DIY Aquaponics System

For a past few years, diy aquaponics system has become a favorite ways among the gardeners. Most of the gardeners have tried several ways to minimize those processes like planting, watering, weeding again and other but yet still they get only small amount of produce out of their gardens.

Few years back, hydroponics method which is produce watery tasting vegetables come out very famous way to grow plant method not only among gardeners but also among daily users. As similar as hydroponics, aquaponics plants also grow without soil, but it differs in one very important way.

Instead of using fertilizer, we put some aquaponics fish in the tank and make them to do work for you. It’s a perfect symbiotic setup. Fish produce excrement which contains essential nutrients for your plants. Water that contains all the nutrients is pumped up to the plants where they extract the nutrients from the water to grow while the plain water is pumped back down the fish tank where the process cycle starts all over again.

DIY Aquaponics method is preferable among gardeners due to small cost that required setting up this system. Perhaps, you even can set it up in accordingly to our needs. Example, if we only have small space indoor, use a small tank will do or if we have big backyard, huge aquaponics can produce mass amount of food.

Furthermore, diy aquaponics system is very simple! All you need is a small space or tank to put the fish and a grow bed. Once you have both, all left is to hooking up some plumbing to pump the water from the tank into the grow bed. Next, all we need to do is add some water and let it ‘cycle’. Opps! We can’t start to grow the plants or fish yet, because the nitrogen cycle isn’t working yet. This is all the important process that converts the ammonia from the fish excrement first into nitrites and than into nitrates which are the nutrients that your plants crave.
Next, fish and plants can be added after the tank has cycled at least once. We can use few types of fish. Trout and tilapia are two most popular species that people used for aquaponics fish. As for plants, any types will do.

Aquaponics system has many benefits compare to other systems. If you have ever owned fish before, you sure will know how dirty their waters becomes if there is no pump. Even, fishes also do not like to swim in their own waste and with aquaponics system, this problem can be solved. With diy aquaponics system, the dirty fish waste water which contain full of nutrients is pumped out to the plants. Then the plants roots will cleanse the water before it is cycled back to the fish tank. Gentle reminder, please ensure that we do the system correctly, otherwise the time and cost of maintaining the system will not be right. The aquaponics systems circulate clean it as it goes which means very little cleaning and maintenance required. It cost very little to get into the energy required to run and diy aquaponics system is very little so we will have small gardening expanses. Furthemore, aquaponics didn’t use soil. No soil means no weeding! Its is clear that we wont have to waste our time and energy to weeding. The best part is we no need to waters the plants or even clean the fish tank.

One other benefits of aquaponics systems is that it able us to produced mass amount of plant in small area. Not just that, its even taste better! The vegetables are juicier and mouth watering. Just imagine growing our own garden with delicious fruits and veggies with no pesticides and without having to deal with those annoying weeds growing around.

DIY Aquaponics not just only grow the plants faster but also healthier, full with nutrients. Moreover, we will not have to worry about insects or any other pest that invade the garden and make us use pesticides. In other words, we will have our own disposal and completely organic source of food.
